Other forms: shish kebabs
Shish kebab is a dish of skewered chunks of meat cooked on a grill. You can find shish kebabs on the menu of many Middle Eastern restaurants.
Shish kebab comes from the Turkish sis, "skewer" or "pointed stick," and kebap, "roast meat." There are other varieties of kebabs, which are made using the same meat but cooked in a different way. Shish kebabs are served with the cubes of lamb, chicken, or other meat still on their skewers, often accompanied by rice and vegetables.
